Blue Hills Motel - Hobart

Blue Hills Motel is a simple, affordable, self check-in motel in Battery Point, Hobarts oldest and quietestsuburb,everything is within walking distance. The cafés of Hampden Road are 6 minutes on foot, Salamanca Place is an easy 11-minute, mostly flat walk, and the waterfront and MONA ferry at Brooke Street Pier are 14 minutes. The CBD is a 20-minute walk or a short bus ride from the stop outside. Wrest Point, the University of Tasmania and the Royal Hobart Hospital are a 5–8 minute drive, and the kunanyi Mount Wellington summit is half an hour away. For Dark Mofo, the Taste of Summer, the Sydney–Hobart finish and the Wooden Boat Festival, you can walk to it all.

How check-in works: reception opens at 9 am; outside reception hours you check in yourself using a key safe, and we are always reachable by phone if you need us. Before arrival we will contact you to confirm your mobile number, arrival time and photo ID, and on the day of arrival we will send your room number and key safe instructions by SMS or email — so please keep your contact details up to date and reply to our messages. Check-in is from 2 pm to 11 pm and check-out is by 10 am; early departures can leave the key in the key return box. Early check-in (from 11 am) and late check-out (until 12 pm) are available on request for AUD 30 each, subject to availability.

We have two types of rooms, both with a private ensuite, flat-screen TV, fridge, tea and coffee facilities, heating and free Wi-Fi. Queen Rooms are on the ground and first floor. Budget Rooms are on the second floor (stairs only, no lift) and are simpler, older rooms, priced accordingly.

Rooms are not serviced daily. Instead, our guest pantry in the lobby is stocked with fresh towels, toiletries and toilet paper — help yourself whenever you like. If you are staying 4 nights or more, we will pop in for a complimentary mid-stay tidy; extra services are available on request.

Welcome to Battery Point! One small confession: this is a heritage neighbourhood, so we only have about 10 parking spaces on site. Theyre free and first come, first served (we cant reserve them), and if theyre taken, theres street parking a short walk away — just check the signs. The car park is entered from Crelin Street, off St Georges Terrace. Most guests find they hardly need the car anyway: Salamanca, the waterfront and the city areon foot from here.

The hotel day starts from hour 14:00 and ends at 10:00.
